Measured from 2015 to August 2026, Nvidia's run reached ~470×. In the fiscal year that ended in January 2015 the company reported revenue of $4.68 billion and net income of $631 million, and it was known mainly for gaming graphics cards. Its results release that year already listed deep learning among the uses of its Tesla accelerated-computing platform.

The climb was not continuous. On 15 November 2018 Nvidia forecast fourth-quarter revenue of $2.70 billion against about $3.40 billion expected, as graphics cards left over from the cryptocurrency bust sat unsold with distributors, and the shares fell 18.8% the next day. On 18 June 2024 it passed Microsoft as the world's most valuable company, at about $3.34 trillion. Revenue for the fiscal year ended January 2026 was $215.9 billion, up 65%, with $193.7 billion from data centres. This account ends in August 2026, with the run unresolved at that date.
